The research line APART aims at contributing to an inclusive society without violence.
We aim at offering added value for the policy andd scientific and professional field by describing and opening up knowledge about various types of violence. Linked to that, we try to develop evidence-based methodologies on how to approach different types of violence. The starting point always is relational practice, research into and together with all the people involved.
By developing sustainable relationships with professionals, policymakers and participants, we aim at conducting participatory research. Our research line focuses on the study of violence in personal, relational and social contexts, but also on the development, implementation and evaluation of methodologies. We try to set up innovative collaboration too. We try not to limit our work, so we involve other disciplines and research areas to gain new insights and to create innovative methodologies. Besides, we think it is important to open up recent and research-based knowledge to those interested and to relevant local and international press. In that way we stimulate them to participate inclusively in the social debate and in the scientific discussion about violence and how to deal with it. At the same time we try to spread the information via academic publications and seminars, as well as via policy reports and presentations for a wide audience. We also provide training courses that meet the needs of the participants and during which they ccan interact and ask questions.
Our researchers develop activities that are strongly linked to practice, so that the results can be implemented directly in the professional field. We also want to optimise the existing methodologies by reflecting in a critical way via existing local and wider networks, policy actors and scientific institutions. The research board APART is a delegation of all those partners and advises, reflects and supports its activities in an optimal way.

Vision
The
research line APART aims to conduct research on different forms of
violence and on methodologies to tackle them. The research line has to
reflect and strengthen the identity of the Research Group Inclusion.
This group is built on a well-developed network of relational practice
which contributes to the development of knowledge and expertise
concerning violence. Through working across disciplines and fields and
combining different research methods, we strive to acquire unique
expertise. Research subjects concern violence in different situations
and at different levels and the methodological treatment bhy
professionals. Knowledge development is spread throught every possible
means of communication and tuned to different target groups.
